A visit to Fort Liberty

Today, I worked at the clinic with our Dr. Rock. We saw 40 patients. It was nice having him there to explain the different skin problems. We saw scabies, boutons which are swollen and a little smaller then a dime in size and they are infected. One pregnant woman had a blood pressure of 178/110 this is serious so the doctor referred her to the hospital for follow up care. Later on in the day we traveled to Fort Liberty in the North east of Haiti. There is an old fort there named Fort Dauphin. We were right on the ocean. The home you see is a typical Haitian home. The weather continues to be very warm. I will be home soon. This trip has been very good. Each time I learn more about the culture as well as the diseases we see and how to treat. Dr. Rock has agreed to go to Terrier rouge once a month to work . He will see some of the more difficult cases and do some training with the nurse and staff members. It would be nice if the clinic in Terrier Rouge could be licensed by the country, then, we could receive immunization. Please pray for that and also we need another nurse there. The end is near and I have had fun sharing with you. In September Luke and I will go to the Phillipines to do a short term missions trip there with our Pastor and his wife from Bangopr Baptist Church. In February 2007 we will return to Haiti again with a team to work on Pastor Dorleans church and do some work at the clinic. We will also do medical clinics in Terrier Rouge and the village of Douvre. We apprecitate your prayers and support. Deut.15:11 " For the poor will never cease from the land. Therefore I command you, saying you shall open your heart wide to your brother."
